This video inspired my coworker to request McDonough's book Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things from the public library.

This is proof that we're changing the world!

I've been meaning to look into the book myself, but I have yet to do so *blushes*

The Rubber Duck

That man has the squeakiest nose I have ever heard. I am compelled to believe that he has inhaled aforementioned Rubber Duck, and the burden he bears compels him to perform the great works that he does. Aside from the entertainment factor of his nose squeaking, he was a captivating speaker with an important message to deliver beneath the overtones of his pleasantly dry wit.
McDonough points out that humans have fucked themselves with their "intentions," and Global Warming is a de facto plan since there was no other. It is thanks to productive environmentalists like himself that we now have a plan. When I say "productive" I am referring exclusively to environmentalists that actually have a proposed solution instead of the idle plebeian masses who picket and bitch because they don't have the decency to feed themselves into a wood chipper to create bio-fuel.
I am relieved to hear a man as educated in his field as McDonough explain that corporations that "play nice" are defeating the ones that don't. As of this moment it is difficult to fully comprehend as I am simply not that well informed in this field. The reason he gives me hope, aside from building green cities, comes from outlining our common goals as a species: Our goal is a delightfully diverse, safe, healthy, and just world, with clean air, water, soil and power - economically, equitably, ecologically, and elegantly enjoyed. Although we may always suffer the greed and gluttony of power-mongering men that will ultimately drive us to war, poverty, and uninhabitable earth -- these words are a suitable compromise for all of us.

Every time William McDonough's nose squeaks, take a drink.
